UNESA Launchs SPORTTRIC, a National Ranking in Sport for Higher Education

Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa) has launched UNESA-SPORTTRIC which is the first annual publication of nationwide university ranking in sports and its related field. It is an innovation that is initiated by Unesa to assess the development of sports among all universities in Indonesia, as well as measure to which extent the university pays attention to sports.

With SPORTTRIC, it is hoped that universities can provide an adequate environment for their students and lecturers to develop themselves in the field of sports and physical activity, both in terms of individual achievements and contributions to the higher education community.

"The ranking that was launched relates to one of Unesa's leading fields, which is sport,” said the Head of the Unesa Higher Education Clustering and Ranking Unit, Prof. Nadi Suprapto, M.Pd., Ph.D., in Surabaya, Friday (23/12/2022).

According to him, with the launch of the Unesa ranking, it can become a reference for universities in developing sport and its related field in their respective institutions

"We follow rankings such as QS, THE Impact Ranking as participants. Starting this year Unesa is not only a participant, but as a host. That's why we initiate UNESA-SPORTTRIC which was launched today.” he said.

Nadi stated further in his speech that he hoped SPORTTRIC could motivate all universities to be more enthusiastic in building and establishing sports into Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi. It will also be a great contribution of higher education to the development of Indonesian sports, which will bring Indonesia as a leading country in term of sport.
